Both 19th century, the first a square form with dark mahogany veneers, banded inlay borders and inlaid escutcheon with ring pull handle to lid (5.25 x 4.5 x 4.5 in.) (wear to corners, some minor shrinkage cracks to veneer, paper lining peeling to interior); the second a tapered square form, mahogany veneer, on French bracket feet, with banded inlay to arched lid and inlaid escutcheon (5 x 4.5 x 3.75 in.) (sun-fading to veneer, stable tight separation to lid veneer).
