First half 20th century, 31.5 in. etched stainless steel German blade with Vanguard Solingen stamps on the ricasso, the blade with patriotic emblems and reading, "United States Marines" on both sides; pierced brass guard with conforming pommel, the leather grip bound with brass wire; the leather-wrapped steel scabbard with brass throat and drag.

Blade with strong etchings and polish, a few scuffs toward the point; brass elements with age patina; the grip's leather intact with minor marks from use; the scabbard's leather with chips and a seam beginning to split.
