The 34.75 in. blade's ricasso stamped N. J / US / D. R / 1864 on one side and AMES MFG. Co. / CHICOPEE / MASS on the other; standard brass guard and pommel; leather wrapped grip bound with brass wire; iron scabbard stamped NJ on the drag.

Some chipping to leather; wire intact; patinated brass; the blade with wear and light oxidation; the scabbard has overall finish losses; a spur of the drag's "NJ" stamp is present with wishful imagination, but the mark really is obliterated for all practical purposes.
