The 32.25 in. straight blade is marked Made by / AMES MFC Co. / Chicopee / MASS one side of the ricasso and U.S. / G. K. C. / 1864 on the other side; cast brass guard and grip; with stitched leather scabbard having brass throat and drag.

The blade remains bright with only small areas of oxidation; original brass surfaces; crazing to scabbard with splits to seam.
