Oil on panel, signed and dated 1987 to lower right, presented behind glass in an attractive whitewashed frame with gilt interior molding.

Billy was a vibrant and active member in the Winston-Salem arts community and member of Piedmont Craftsmen. He was an instructor at the Sawtooth Center and Salem College, and he later worked as director of High Point’s Theatre Art Galleries. In 1999, the Sawtooth Center gave McClain its “Artist of the Year” award and an accompanying solo exhibition. He has shown his works throughout the southeast, and a retrospective of his work was exhibited at the Sawtooth Center in May of 2013.
