Prior to devoting full time to his painting, Cliff worked for several printing companies and advertising agencies in and around York, PA. He also sketched for the The Gazette and Daily, The York Dispatch, and the York Daily Record. Although Satterthwaite is well known for architectural paintings of historic buildings, he is also known for his still lifes, landscapes, nudes, whimsical bas-reliefs, abstract scenes and portraits, humorous caricatures and contemporary social events.
