Woodall Sponsor / Maids of Honor Mrs M. M. Armory, Mrs S. L. Vaughn>; the champagne bottle neck from the launching is present with a length of silk ribbon.

The U.S.S. Stokes was named after western North Carolina's Stokes County. She served as an armed transport in the Pacific and participated in the late war campaigns against Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
