Patinated bronze, signed and dated 1990, numbered 26/75, depicting a young man reading under the shade of his horse, mounted to a marble and wood rectangular turntable base with brass gallery plaque to front; retains a certificate of authenticity from Mountain Trails Gallery, signed by Ken Payne 1991.

Ken Payne began his artistic career as a painter, focusing on the landscapes, cowboys, and native peoples of the Southwest. In the late 1970’s he decided to turn his talents toward bronze sculpture, and for more than four decades produced close to 150 sculptures depicting the frontier. His sculptures have been collected nationally and internationally by both private and corporate collectors.
