Robert Pummill's work draws inspiration from themes of the American West, as well as from the the work of Frederic Remington, N.C. Wyeth, John Singer Sargent, Dutch Old Masters and the French Impressionists. He went to night school at the Art Center School of Design in Los Angeles while working as a commercial artist. In 1968, he moved to Texas where he worked as an illustrator for Vaught Aeronautics, and in 1977, he became a full-time artist at age forty one. He was a member of the Cowboy Artists of America from 1984 to 2005. His works have been exhibited nationally, and are in many private and museum collections.
