Attributed to Eastern Virginia, early 19th century, poplar secondary, top with applied molded edge, pull-out fall front butler's desk, unusual horizontal document drawer within fall front lid, interior prospect door with inlaid conch shell opening to reveal two small drawers above two pigeon holes, flanked by three small drawers to each side above four open pigeon holes, prospect door flanked by two faux document drawers, above two hinged bowfront cabinet doors, each with highly figured mahogany veneers, banded veneer border and light and dark wood inlays, opening to reveal three conforming bowfront linen drawers, triple line inlaid base above a scalloped apron, raised on front French bracket feet.

Mar to center of top; prospect door upper hinge present but loose; replaced pulls; replaced floral print linen writing surface; later hinges and with cut, patch, and repair at hinge joint; feet with restoration.
