Circa 1889, Europa is modeled wearing a loose drape, seated upon the garlanded bull above two kneeling attendants, on a shaped oval Rococo style scroll-mounted base, underside blue pommel crossed swords, incised 2697, press mark 85.

When the beautiful Europa and her maidens were gathering flowers, Zeus, disguised as a bull, swam away with her to the island of Crete where she became the first queen.

Scattered breaks to leaves as well as several petals; repair to bull's tail; original tight firing crack underside of the base; examined under UV light.
