A Virginia Collector

Vincent Clare lived and worked as an artist in London. Like his father, George Clare, Vincent became quite popular with his still life and flower paintings. His technique was similar to his father's, however his brush strokes were slightly freer and he would, at times, work with more pastel colors. He exhibited work was exhibited in Liverpool at the Walker Art Gallery, and possibly with his brother Oliver in the Midlands.


One patch to verso with associated retouch to recto at leaf along right edge; some all-over stable craquelure; faint impression of stretcher.
