Charlie Burk was born in, and still lives in, Albuquerque, New Mexico. He received his BFA from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque in 1973. Originally working in watercolor, Burk switched to oil paints in 1999. He has long been drawn to fields of grass and has used them as a subject for his abstracted paintings - focusing on the dichotomy of light and dark, positive and negative space, and the play of colors.
