North Carolina Chippendale Walnut Tall Chest of Drawers

Piedmont region, circa 1800, yellow pine and poplar secondary, dovetailed case, applied cove molded cornice, three side by side small drawers above two side by side small drawers above four long drawers, all graduated and lipped, the upper small five drawers with full dust boards, flanked by fluted quarter columns, raised on bold ogee bracket feet with pronounced spur and pad foot.

63 x 42 x 22 in. case width 39.5 in.

An excellent example of this Southern form featuring bold pronounced original feet.

Later pulls with some plug holes; refinished; small one inch cut and patch to the top left rear of cornice; drawer runners rebuilt; front right foot with hairline shrinkage cracks; rear left foot with hairline shrinkage crack.
