Collection of a Gentleman, Polk County, Florida

Gaston was a well known French representational equine sculptor in the first half of the 20th century. Many examples of his work were sculpted after of competitive and champion horses of the time. An accomplished rider himself, he often went hunting on horseback with friends in the nearby woodlands of Sologne. His work has been exhibited widely throughout France and Europe, including the Salon of the Société des artistes Français and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.


Some chipping to marble; light surface scratches to figure's upper right leg; else good estate condition.
