This book commemorates the establishment of a national cemetery for Union soldiers of the Civil War. Nearly 1,400 of the dead listed were unknown patriots, being brought in from makeshift graves where they fell. President Andrew Johnson and numerous dignitaries were present for the dedication of this much-needed resting place. Original copies of this book only appear to be in public collections such as the Library of Congress.

Light age toning throughout; very clean and tightly bound; original boards being nearly pristine with only peripheral rub to gilt on the cover; the spine might be a later and tasteful professional restoration. Overall fine condition.
