In New Orleans at the age of seventeen, he studied art under Paul Poincy (1833-1909). Later in New York, he enrolled in the Art Students League where he received instruction from both Charles C. Curran and Frank Vincent DuMond. One of his last works was a mural for the Shushan (New York) Airport administration building. Drysdale was a member of the Arts and Crafts Club of New Orleans, and his work was in the permanent collection of the Delgado Museum for many years.
