Designed in textured gold as an undulating dragon, set with diamonds to crown and with bezel set emerald eyes, the open mouth with an articulated tongue and with a prong set pear cut ruby, each of the dragon's three claws holds a dyed jasper sphere, completed with a double pin stem and single locking clasp, stamped 18K.

Dobie D. Hogan was a print and runway model in Norfolk, Virginia who began her career in New York working for the Paris designer Mainbocher in the 1950s, and in the 1970s, she was voted "Best Dressed Woman" of Hampton Roads, Virginia. Her lifelong love of jewelry and substantial collection began with her fashionable mother, Louise Jenkins Driver, and developed over Hogan's long involvement with the industry.
