"The Lion Slayer", circa 1860, modeled as Roualeyn George Gordon-Cumming attired in plaid kilt and green cloak, a sword in his left hand, a dead lion at his feet, titled on the base, (15 1/2 in.) (paint flakes); a matched pair of flat back hunters with dog and rifle (15 1/2 in.) (extensive crazing; one with hairline across rear neck; minor flakes).
From the Collection of the late Dobie D. Hogan, Norfolk, Virginia Gordon-Cumming (1820-1866) was a legendary big game hunter with exploits in South Africa and Scotland.
