A Victorian period three-quarter length portrait of an educated young man in a black suite with yellow vest. He wears a yellow and blue striped neckcloth against a starched white shirt. He is seated in an upholstered armchair, a green draped table by his side upon which rests a sheet and drafting compass.

Minor drying crackle to surface; some rubbing to panel below frame; frame in fragile condition with looseness and loss to composition.
