Cal Gaspard was a self-taught artist who was raised in Louisiana and eventually moved to Texas, which he felt was home. Texas became the subject of much of his work, such as the Texas bluebonnets painting offered here. His work has been featured on Ducks Unlimited publications covers, and in 1974 he won first prize for oil paintings through the Lone Star Art Guild.
