Husidio John Tempest descends from a long lineage of artists. Born in Italy, his artistic ancestry begins with Antonio Tempesta, a late Renaissance painter and engraver born and trained in Florence in the 16th century. Tempest's father was Gerard Tempest, the founder of Abstract Spiritualism. Gerard Tempest was a protégé of Giorgio de Chirico, whose scuola metafisica art movement greatly influenced the surrealists. Husidio John grew up close to de Chirico, eventually becoming an agent for the artist's graphics and sculptures. Husidio John's formal studies were competed at the Art Students League in New York as well as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His original paintings and portraits may be found in public and private collections in Italy and North Carolina.
