Oil on mahogany panel, signed at lower left, faint lettering visible at upper left, presented under glass within a period gilt composition frame, inscribed on the verso "The undersigned declare that this / picture has been painted by himself / to the order of A. D. Huyvetter / of Antwerp. / Paris 1885 / E. T. Carpentier," frame retains V. L. Reichhardt of Brooklyn label to the verso, presented in a very attractive gilt composition frame.

Mr. Albert d'Huyvetter was a well-known art dealer and picture importer based in Brooklyn, New York. He was born in Antwerp in 1811 and immigrated to the United States in 1852.

Small dark marking to upper right of unknown origin; very minor crazing to paint surface. No evidence of retouch visible under UV light.
