Zuber et Cie, founded in 1797, is the oldest operating wallpaper manufacturer in the world. Introduced in 1852, "The War of American Independence" was a re-working of the "Views of North America" first produced in 1843. It takes approximately eight months to prepare and hand-print each panoramic mural. "The War of American Independence" uses the original 2300 woodblocks which are classified as historical monuments by the French Ministry of Culture.

"The War of American Independence" has graced some of the finest interiors of the United States - including the private dining room of the White House, the grand staircase at The Greenbrier resort, and the dining room of Patricia Altschul's Charleston home decorated by the incomparable Mario Buatta.

Professionally removed from their original installation by John Nalewaja, a master paperhanger, of New York.

Some minor expected edge wear to lengths, a few with some minor loss to verso of length. Overall in good useable condition.
