Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Oil on card, both signed "E. L. Lucas," the portrait of Bradley's Peggy is further inscribed "Painted Photograph," both in period gilt frames and presented under glass and within gilt mats inscribed with the horses' names - Bradley's Peggy and Bubbling Over.

Sheet 8 x 10 in.; Frame dimensions 10 1/2 x 12 5/8 in. (each)

Bubbling Over (1923-1938) was bred and owned by Colonel Edward Riley Bradley. Bubbling Over won the 1926 Kentucky Derby and sired the 1932 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner, Burgoo King. Details on Peggy are unknown, but it is assumed the mare was from Bradley's Idle Hour Farm.

The portrait of Peggy has been examined out of the frame and is in good estate condition, there is some paint loss along the edges of sheet due to mat rubbing; the portrait of Bubbling Over has not been removed from the frame, but is assumed to be in similar good estate condition; both with minor rubbing and wear to frames.
