Born in Opelousas, Louisiana, David earned his BFA at Louisiana State University, and his MFA at Yale University. He has exhibited at several west coast galleries including Gail Severn Gallery (Idaho), Hackett / Freedman Gallery (San Francisco)
Hackett / Freedman Gallery (San Francisco),and Linda Hodges Gallery (Seattle).

He also has been active in arts education at three west coast institutions: Washington State University, Eastern Oregon University, and Whitman College.
