Second half 19th century, multi-part form, pronounced stepped cornice with egg and dart motif, applied griffin and foliate carvings to frieze, two large hinged carved doors with upper glass panels above carved panels of lyre, ribbon and brushes, louvered shelf interior, bold stiles featuring female figures representing literature, lower long drawer, stylized gadrooned molded base, raised on front paw feet on casters.

Retains an old likely original warm patina to the oak.
