19th century, the first in rosewood veneer, with geometric light and dark wood parquetry inlay. red painted interior (3 1/4 x 7 x 5 in.) ; the second box in pine, encased in leather, with elliptical brass escutcheon, beveled edged lid with four brass rosettes and centered foliate ring finial, opens to a celadon papered interior, on four brass feet (3 x 7 x 4 1/8 in.).

Both with surface scratches, wear to veneers and leather encasing, pine box with shrinkage crack to underside, peeling and loss to paper interior, and scattered black marks to exterior.
