19th century, the first is oak with palmetto leaves over raised pots (12 x 11 in.) (shrinkage splits; loss to carving on the decorative band ); the second is paint decorated black with gilt, large applied gilt balls above a band of acanthus leaves (16 1/2 x 14 1/2 in.) (minor chips; paint losses).
