Circa 1800, painted metal face with moon dial, battling clipper ship with second movement surmounted by a painted vignette of a British colonial battle, the corners with painted figures representing the four seasons, the hood with a broken arched pediment with eglomise panels and gilt rosettes, hinged tombstone glazed door flanked by fully turned fluted columns with ormolu mounts, the case with dentil molding, swag inlaid frieze with pen-work detail,, shaped hinged waist door with figured mahogany veneer and geometric banded inlay flanked by fully turned fluted columns over paterae inlaid socles, the base panel with fan inlaid corners with banded line inlays on shaped bracket feet, with two weights, pendulum and clock key.

98 x 25 x 12.5 in.

As found estate condition; the face with old paint, crazing and some paint loss; cracks and bending to the hands; later works with bell strike; the case with sold dentil molding loss; veneer shrinkage cracks and slight buckling; no case key; warp to waist door; other age appropriate wear.
