Originally from Wisconsin, Mary Lou Higgins settled in Pittsboro, North Carolina. This is a unique early work, likely from the late 1970s, when she was creating more weavings. Her later work is predominantly hand-painted and hand-built slab work ceramics. She was represented in numerous galleries throughout the US, from Sol de Rio Gallery in San Antonio, Texas, to Somerhill Gallery in Chapel Hill to Ferrin Gallery in Northhampton, Massachusetts.
