Alkaline glazed stoneware, five gallon size, a bulbous ovoid form with applied ear handles, warm olive alkaline glaze, applied high ear handles with pleasing glass runs from each handle, flat rim, stamped at shoulder with a strong impression"JFS" with unusual Roman Numeral "V" capacity mark below.

ARE mark, alkaline glazed stoneware five gallon jar stamped, most unusually with the Roman Numeral V. The jar has a well-turned tapered ovoid shape, applied "ear" handles, strong impressed "JFS" stamp. 15"
