Permillas Arten Lee (1880-1955) was born in Johnson County and graduated from Poplar Grove High School. He went on to study pharmacy at UNC-Chapel Hill. He married Hautence Thornton (1888-1957), of Harnett County, in 1909. P. A. Lee was a mayor of Dunn, a State Senator, and a president of the North Carolina Pharmaceutical Association.
