Jacob was a well known New York painter of portraits, figures, genre and history subjects. He studied portraiture with Henry Inman and attended the school of the National Academy of Design, where he was elected an Associate member and exhibited frequently. Other exhibition venues included the Pennsylvania Academy, Brooklyn Art Association, and Boston Atheneum. His works have been collected by major museums and private collectors, including the Metropolitan Museum, the National Gallery of Art in DC, among many others.
Good estate condition, some scattered areas of retouch to background.
