Made by Vista Alegre (87) pieces, the theme for each piece, as with the Meissen original, is rippling water, the surface finished in relief with a pair of facing swans within delicate waves, with 22KT gold edging above an armorial crest, the set includes: (13 ) dinner plates (10 1/2 in.); (13) rim soup plates (9 1/3 in.) each with box; (13) dessert plates (9 1/8 in.); (13) bread & butter (7 in.); (16) cups with (16) saucers; accessory pieces include: Coffee pot (10 1/4 in.); creamer; covered sugar.

German Baroque art for the table, the Swan Service by Johann Joachim Kaendler, for Meissen, commissioned in 1737 by Count Heinrich von Brühl, Prime Minister under King Augustus III, required five years until completion. The original service comprised about 2200 pieces and this design is still made at the Meissen manufactory.

Good condition; likely unused.
