Mary Armand Nash was the daughter of the late Captain Fred Nash and Elizabeth Littlejohn Nash. She graduated from Elizabeth College in Charlotte and went on to complete post-graduate work at Columbia University. She taught art in the Charlotte schools until retiring in 1943.

Anne Nash (1926-2020) was Mary Armand Nash's niece. She was retired from Charlotte Country Day School and was very active in her Ashe County mountain community.
