Attributed North Carolina or Virginia, early 19th century, yellow pine secondary, two part form, applied cove molded cornice, frieze with applied thin molding, two hinged cabinet doors with diamond molded mullions, louvered shelved interior, the base with applied molded edge above two side-by-side flush drawers, boldly scalloped skirt raised on cabriole legs with pronounced ball and claw feet.

Paper label in old script on verso reads "S. M. Bartow, Sewanee, Tenn.", also in lead script the same at upper left corner of back board; a fine rare example retaining original pulls, legs and cornice.

As found estate condition; old but later diamond mullions with plugged areas indicating an original central vertical mullion with four horizontal mullions; loss to molding at frieze; later hinges; break and loss to right rear leg at back side tenon joint.
