To include: a Four Per Cent Registered Bond issued to William J. Cheatham, Richmond, December 23, 1864, signed by Robert Tyler, Register of the Treasury, the central vignette shows the C.S.S Virginia sinking the U.S.S. Cumberland during the March 1862 Battle of Hampton Roads, the verso with Treasury imprint and Cheatham's penciled name, possibly a signature, the document carries a Confederate Treasury blindstamp (9 x 10-3/4 in.) (folds, edge chips, mild spotting); plus, an uncut pair of $1000 Six Per cent Non Taxable Certificates, Richmond, September 28, 1864, each with blind stamp and signed by Assistant Register of the Treasury C. A. Rose (14 x 9-1/2 in.) (some losses; diagonal crease).

The signer of the Four Percent Bond, Robert Tyler, was a son of former U.S. President John Tyler whereas the owner of the bond was likely Dr. William J. Cheatham of Amelia Courthouse, Virginia.
