Nora Lucy Mowbray Cundell studied at the Blackheath School of Art, the Westminster Technical Institute and the Slade School of Art. Best known for her figural and still life paintings, Cundell exhibited frequently at the Royal Academy, the Paris Salon and the New English Art Club. She also traveled to the western United States, painting portraits of Native Americans and landscapes in Arizona and Colorado. A memorial exhibition was held in 1949 at the Royal Society of British Artists.
