Germany, the tray is composed of a hand-painted scene of a woman ministering to native wounded in conflict, gold leaf stencil design surrounds the central scene, with contemporary frame. Verso with hand-written note stating the tray was purchased in 1860 from the estate of Alexander von Humbolt (1769-1859) the famous explorer and geographer.
1 1/2 x 25 x 31 in.
Alligatoring to much of the surface; rust to the verso.
