Painted plaster, signed and dated "Betty Rogers 1979" to base, acquired by the consignor from North Carolina artist Earline Heath King (NC, 1913-2011) in the 1980's.

Earline Heath King was an American singer and sculptor from Winston-Salem, NC. She began sculpture in the 1960's, and throughout her 43-year career, she created 345 sculptures by commission and taught sculpture courses for 23 years. She also created a large number of public art sculptures, including an equestrian statue of R.J. Reynolds in Winston-Salem, and a sculpture of Bowman Gray for the Wake Forest School of Medicine. King held a one-woman show at the Galleria Luigi Bellini in Florence in 1993.



Some stains and wear to paint; signs of outdoor use; some small chips to lower base edge.
