Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Matthew Daly studied at the Cincinnati School of Design. He was employed briefly at the Matt Morgan Art Pottery Company but left to work for the Rookwood Pottery. He left Rookwood in 1903 after twenty years and took a job at the United States Playing Card Company. In addition to his day-to-day artistry work, Daly was a prolific and talented landscape and portrait artist. He was extremely active in the artistic flourishing of the city and was a founder of the Cincinnati Art Club.

Some minor chipping to frame; else in good estate condition.
