Late 19th century, each in earth green or turquoise hue glazes, the first two of George and Martha Washington, both by Beaver Falls Art Tile Co. Ltd., Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, embossed mark to verso (frame dimensions 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 in.); the third a large portrait plaque of George Washington in a star studded field, attributed to Beaver Falls Art Tile Co. Ltd., appears unmarked (frame dimensions 15 3/4 x 15 3/4 in.); the fourth limited edition tile of Ulysses S. Grant, by the American Encaustic Tile Co., Zanesville, OH, embossed mark to verso, with stamped date of Dec. 15, 1885 (frame dimensions 7 1/4 x 7 1/4 in.).
