Circa 1881-1882, Chelsea, Massachusetts, glazed ceramic bas relief tiles, all with monogram signature of English sculptor and ceramicist Arthur Osborne (British, 1855-1942) to recto lower corner, eight with embossed company mark to verso, including (7) individually framed tiles (frame dimension of largest 9 7/8 x 9 7/8 in.), frame tile plaque of a tavern interior (frame dimensions 12 1/4 x 14 3/4 in.); tile plaque of allegorical bearded man (frame dimensions 16 x 12 in.).

English sculptor Arthur Osborne designed the renowned “Plastic Sketches” for J.G. & J.F. Low Art Tile Low Art Tile Works. These Plastic Sketches contain a special series of 47 unglazed tiles sculpted by Arthur Osborne and with the same signature seen in these tiles being offered. He returned to England in 1898, where he began producing his acclaimed “Ivorex” plaques in the market town of Faversham.
