Bart Walter is a trained biologist and a master sculptor. He grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and began his artistic journey as a wood carver. A chance encounter in the late 1980s with the famed primatologist, Jane Goodall, led to a commission for two bronze sculptures of chimpanzees now on display at the Jane Goodall Institute in Arlington, Virginia. His sculptures are found throughout the world, including the Ugandan Wildlife Authority Headquarters in Kampala, the private collection of King Abdullah in Saudi Arabia, the National Zoo in Washington, D.C., and the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyoming.
