Allyn Cox was the son of two American artists, Kenyon Cox and Louise Howland King. He studied at the National Academy of Design, Art Students League of New York, and the American Academy in Rome. Cox is best known for his murals found throughout the United States Capitol, including his completion of the murals in the rotunda.
