Private Collection of a North Carolinian

Jane Peiser was a towering force in contemporary ceramics. Her hand-built sculptures are created using a unique and intricate layering of multi-colored porcelains culminating in fanciful pictorial scenes.

In 1968, she and her husband, the studio glass master, Mark Peiser, moved to western North Carolina. Here, in Mitchell County, they found a community within the new residency program at Penland School of Crafts.

Jane Peiser's work has been exhibited and is featured in such prominent collections as the Smithsonian, The Mint Museum, Asheville Art Museum, and the American Museum of Ceramic Art in California.
