Serial number 17177 on frame and underside of barrel near breech, the 40 in. round barrel marked Old Reliable, SHARP'S RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT, CONN., fitted with an adjustable globe front sight and collapsable Vernier tang sight, both sides of the receiver having hard rubber panels, the trigger is checkered as are the walnut forearm and pistol grip stock, the butt being fitted with a German Schuetzen style target competition buttplate.

Overall length 54 in.; Weight 11 lbs.

According to Norm Flayderman, approximately 230 of these long range rifles were made between 1878 and 1881.

Bright bore with bold spiral rifling; crisp working action; possibly re-blued barrel; some spotting and wear to the receiver; a few scattered marks on the stock from normal use; overall very good condition.
