George Peterson is a self-taught woodturner and sculptor from Long Beach, California. He works primarily with found wood and reinterpreting skateboard decks. His works are featured in the Asheville Art Museum, Asheville, North Carolina, The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and The Mint Museum, Charlotte, North Carolina.

A large bowl by Peterson was prominently displayed in the Oval Office during Barack Obama's presidency.
