Late 19th century, rectangular forms, the largest in burlwood veneers and light and dark marquetry inlays, mother of pearl inlaid cartouche and escutcheon, opens to a lined storage area with removable upholstered cover (5 1/2 x 11 1/2 x 8 7/8 in.) (some scratches, shrinkage cracks and loss to veneer and inlays; hinge screws on one side missing; wear and loss to interior lining); the smaller box in mahogany, with painted continental shore scene with figures, mahogany case, applied mother of pearl veneers with painted foliate ornaments.(1 3/4 x 6 7/8 x 4 1/2 in.) (some veneer cracks and loss to; some paint loss).
